2026 Plans for the Ilu Finder Tool (With a New Update!)
We’re stepping into 2026 with exciting goals and meaningful improvements for the Ilu Finder Tool, all aimed at helping Igbo learners and culture lovers deepen their connection with Igbo proverbs.
Our 2026 Goal: Document 1,000 Proverbs
This year, we’re working hard to expand the Ilu Finder database from the current 350+ proverbs to an impressive 1,000 proverbs.
Each new proverb will come with:
✅ Accurate audio pronunciation guides
✅ Proper Igbo tonal markings and diacritics
These updates are designed to help learners hear, read, and internalize each proverb correctly, and grow in their mastery of the Igbo language.
🧘🏽♂️ Introducing SCROLL Mode (Coming Soon)
One of the most anticipated new features we’ll be rolling out is SCROLL Mode; a focus mode that allows you to block out distractions and slowly scroll through proverbs for quiet reflection or deep study.
Think of it as a digital way to meditate on wisdom, one proverb at a time.
New Update: Search Issue Fixed!
Last year, after adding tonal markings and diacritics to make our proverbs more linguistically accurate, users experienced a major issue:
👉🏽 It became very difficult (and sometimes impossible) to search for proverbs using unmarked Igbo keywords.
We’ve now found a creative fix for this!
✅ You can once again search the database using regular Igbo keywords, even if you don’t use tonal marks. This makes the tool much easier to use while keeping all the linguistic accuracy intact.
