Introducing the Dibia Directory (A New Way to Find Dibias)

We’re proud to announce the launch of the Dibia Directory, a new platform built to help Odinani practitioners across the world connect with verified Dibias (Igbo mystics and traditional knowledge keepers) more easily, safely, and meaningfully.

First Things First: Who Are Dibias?

Dibias are custodians of mystical, spiritual, and traditional knowledge in Igbo cosmology. From healing and divination to ancestral work and herbal medicine, Dibias hold specialized knowledge passed through generations. They are essential figures in Odinani, the traditional spiritual system of Igbos.

In recent years, as interest in Odinani and ancestral ways of being has grown, so too has the need for reliable, transparent, and ethical pathways to connect with true custodians.

That’s why we built the Dibia Directory.

Why We Created the Dibia Directory

The Dibia Directory is a community-centered platform created to:

  • Make it easier for seekers, students, and spiritual workers in the Odinani space to find and connect with authentic Dibias across various specialties.

  • Promote transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in a space where misinformation and misuse of power can cause harm.

  • Empower the community to speak openly about their experiences—good or bad—with traditional practitioners.

🔍 Key Features of the Dibia Directory

Here’s what you can do with the current version of the Dibia Directory:

  1. Search Function: Search through our growing database to find Dibias based on name, location, specialty, or other keywords.

  2. View Dibia Profiles: Click on any Dibia’s profile to see

    • Their areas of expertise

    • Contact or consultation details

    • Community reviews from real people who have engaged with them

  3. Leave Reviews: Had an experience with a Dibia? Leave a public review to help others make informed decisions, whether your experience was helpful or concerning.

  4. Submit a Dibia for Listing: Know a trustworthy Dibia who isn’t listed yet? You can submit their profile for review. Dibias can also self-submit their profiles to be added.

  5. Report Misconduct: If you believe a Dibia is misusing their position or engaging in unethical behavior, you can report the profile. When a Dibia receives repeated negative reports or reviews, they are moved to a Red List, which flags them to the community.

Our Commitment to Vetting and Verification

We are actively working toward listing at least 100 vetted Dibia profiles in our first year. Every Dibia listed will go through a physical visitation and vetting process conducted by trusted members of our network to ensure that they are authentic, ethical, and truly practicing.

The disclaimer put in place on our site does not stop us from prioritizing protection, preservation, and progress for our spiritual traditions.

What’s Next?

This is only the beginning. As the directory grows, we will:

  • Expand categories and specialties

  • Improve user navigation and filtering

  • Explore ways to certify ethical practice standards across the network
